World Cup 2023: India have a sweet conundrum ahead of Bangladesh tie

The juggernaut of the Indian cricket team in the ICC World Cup 2023 will move to Pune. After conquering challenges against Australia and Afghanistan, the Indian team won the flagship battle against arch-nemesis Pakistan in Ahmedabad last Saturday.

All of India's three wins have been resounding, to say the least. The Indian team have dominated both with bat and ball and have crumbled all the teams who they have faced so far. And up next, it is Bangladesh on Thursday.

India

It is a struggling Bangladesh side who have already suffered two defeats out of three matches and amid all the problems that they are having, it looks like the Indian team will prevail against the Bangladeshi side at the MCA Stadium in Pune.

Amid all the glitters of the Indian team, there is a certain satisfaction which must be hovering around the team. Of all the three victories, it has been nothing but convincing for the Indian team. In all those matches, the Indian team never looked out of sorts.

India standing tall in tough situation

When the Afghanistan partnership was on with Azmatullah and Hashmatullah, when Pakistan were motoring along with Rizwan and Babar - team India kept their shape and belief. Captain Rohit Sharma marshalled his troops adeptly and never hung his head. All of India's move in the chessboard was calculated, no rash decisions at all.

As India take on Bangladesh, it is a chance for them to go nearer towards qualification. A victory against Bangladesh will ensure 8 points after first four matches, and then on the Indian team will be hoping that the qualification for the semi final is only a matter of time.

Make no mistake, India still have five matches to play after this, but there is a general feeling among the team and around everywhere that this team has a different metal. Along with their talent, qualities, names, this team also have abundance of resilience and winners who can stand tall and salvage the team out of any adverse situations.

IND vs BAN: The Team Selection Conundrum

So, as we come to the Bangladesh situation, what should the Team Management think of? They will be tempted to throw in someone like Mohammed Shami or Suryakumar Yadav for a taste of World Cup, but it looks like a far-fetched assumption.

Although the Pune crowd won't mind the SKY scoops, the Indian team management may refrain from that.

Shubman Gill is also likely to play in the Bangladesh match. The batter recovered from Dengue and was slotted straight back into the team at the expense of Ishan Kishan. Gill's magic didn't last long in Ahmedabad, but he will get his chance again in Pune.

It is a nice thing to have selection headaches as it reflects the strength of a team. And for the Indian team, it is a sweet one as all the things have fallen in pieces for Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid so far.

There is one selection decision which has raised a few eyebrows, that is of Shardul Thakur. The KKR all-rounder was given just two overs against Pakistan, and it looks like he will be used in the same way in the coming matches as well. The asking for Ravichandran Ashwin is there but team management is confident that the Tamil Nadu veteran will deliver when his call comes up.

In case of Mohammed Shami, it is a luxury for India to have him on the wings. A player of Shami's calibre gets into any side but both Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah are firing so far.

Against Bangladesh, the combination may well be the same again for Men in Blue. But it is a sweet conundrum to have for India, a word which is often used negatively, has been a positive force for them and the entire billion and half will hope that may it continue.
