The World Cup 2023 will start from October 5 and end with the final in Ahmedabad on November 19, as per reports.

The World Cup 2023 will most likely kick start from October 5 with the final on November 19, according to a report by ESPNcricinfo.

The report has added that the BCCI has shortlisted a total of 12 venues = Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Dharamsala, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Indore, Rajkot and Mumbai.

The final match will be held at the world's largest cricket stadium (Narendra Modi Stadium) in Mumbai.

The 10-team ICC event will see teams play 48 matches including three knockout games in a period of 46 days.

In usual scenario the ICC releases World Cup schedules at least a year in advance, but this time around a delay has been there due to "complications posed by the monsoon season receding at different points in different parts of India", the report has said.

Also, the BCCI is reportedly waiting to get necessary clearances from the Indian government. Tax exemption for the tournament, and visa clearance for the Pakistan team are among the two issues in front of the BCCI.

It has also been learnt that the BCCI has assured the ICC that visas for the Pakistan contingent will be cleared by the Indian government during the ICC's quarterly meetings last weekend in Dubai.

Seven teams have already qualified for the marquee event while an intense fight is going for the final three spots. South Africa, West Indies and Sri Lanka are also yet to book their spots. The top eight teams in the ICC Men's World Cup Super League Standings will qualify directly for the final.

Seven teams who have qualified for ICC World Cup 2023: England, New Zealand, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Australia and Afghanistan.

West Indies, Sri Lanka, Ireland and South Africa are the four teams competing for the eight spot which can book their direct berth for the main event.
