Israel Palestine War: Mohammad Rizwan dedicates ton to 'brothers and sisters in Gaza', breaches ICC rules; global cricket body responds

Israel Palestine War: Pakistan's Mohammad Rizwan can be in trouble for his social media activity after their victory over Sri Lanka on Tuesday (October 10).

Pakistan beat the Lankans in style in Hyderabad and then Rizwan made a controversial tweet on social media. After scoring his hundred and winning the match for the team, Rizwan dedicated the victory to the Palestine people.

Mohammad Rizwan

"This was for our brothers and sisters in Gaza. Happy to contribute to the win. Credits to the whole team and especially Abdullah Shafique and Hassan Ali for making it easier. Extremely grateful to the people of Hyderabad for the amazing hospitality and support throughout," Rizwan tweeted on Wednesday.

And controversy has erupted after this. ICC rule refrains a player from making political or religious comments during an ICC tournament, and people have already raised questions about whether the Pakistani player breached one of the codes of conduct.

An Indian journalist also raised the question citing MS Dhoni was told to remove army insignia from his gloves during World Cup 2019.

ICC responds, Rizwan gets away

But the Pakistani player can breathe a sigh of relief as ICC has denied any wrongdoings as a social media post doesn't fall within their domain. As Rizwan didn't make any comments during the game and only tweeted it outside the field of play, the apex body of cricket has nothing to adjudicate in this case.

Pakistan will be up against India in their next match on Saturday. Babar Azam and his team has so far won both of their first two matches in the 2023 World Cup.
