Netherlands captain Scott Edwards has made a baffling mistake in the post-match presentation of Tuesday's ICC World Cup 2023 match in Dharamshala.
Netherlands scripted history after a fantastic victory over South Africa in Dharamshala on Tuesday (October 17). It was a superb performance from the European team as they did exceedingly well with the bat and then followed it up with fantastic bowling to cripple the South African star studded batting lineup.

The Dutch won the match by 38 runs, registering their first fig tree in the tournament. And their captain Scott Edwards played a massive part in the victory. Edwards scored an unbeaten 78 off just 69 balls, and then marshalled his troops in the field aggressively as they rattled the Proteas batters.
But after the match, during the post-match presentation, Edwards made a hilarious yet baffling mistake.
The presenter asked Edwards how the fans will rejoice their win in Netherlands, and speaking on that, the Dutch captain said he believes there will be plenty of Dutch fans 'staying up' to watch their victory.
"We were in decent positions in the first few games but then fell away. I am sure there (Netherlands) will be plenty of fans staying up and watching this. Extremely happy with the win," Edwards said in the post-match presentation.
The reason why Scott Edwards is at wrong with 'staying up' comment is because it is only evening time in Netherlands. The Indian standard time is around three and half hours (considering the daylight saving) ahead of the Dutch time. And at about when Scott Edwards was having his post-match presentation, it was around 7:45 PM in the evening in Netherlands.
Hence there was no need for the fans to stay up late to watch their team scripting victory, as perhaps it was just the dinner time.
It is quite possible that Scott Edwards mistakenly calculated the Dutch time as it was very late in Dharamshala at around 11:15 PM in the night, and he miscalculated the time thinking it was late in his country as well. Hence, it was only a 'Geographical' mistake from him.
