World Cup 2023: South Africa opener Quinton de Kock scored his fourth hundred of the World Cup 2023 and became the first batter to cross the 500-run mark in the World Cup 2023 on Wednesday.
Quinton de Kock continued with his red hot form against New Zealand at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Pune and brought up his 21st ODI hundred. He is tied with Herschelle Gibbs at third in the list of South Africa batters with most hundreds. Hashim Amla (27) and AB de Villiers (25) occupy the first and second spots respectively.

The 30-year-old southpaw, who is set to retire from the ODI format after the ongoing World Cup 2023, brought up his hundred with six off Jimmy Neesham on the final ball of the 36th over. Earlier, de Kock scored 100 vs Sri Lanka in Delhi, 109 vs Australia in Lucknow, and 174 vs Bangladesh in Mumbai.
Quinton de Kock is now just one hundred short of equalling Rohit Sharma's record for most hundreds in a single World Cup edition. India captain Rohit Sharma hit five hundreds in 2015 World Cup. de Kock is tied with Kumar Sangakkara's tally of four hundreds in the 2015 World Cup.
The 200-run partnership between de Kock and Rassie Van Der Dussen (133) is the fifth-highest for South Africa for any wicket at the World Cups. The wicketkeeper-batter, who was dismissed for 114, has scored 545 runs in seven matches at an average of 77.86. He has a 102-run lead over David Warner (413) - the second-highest run-scorer in World Cup 2023.
Rachin Ravindra is featuring in the match and will have the opportunity to go past de Kock in the second innings. The 23-year-old southpaw has been on fire in his debut World Cup. New Zealand have been asked to chase a 358-run total to win the match.
