World Cup 2023: Mohammed Shami took some time out during India's 6-day break ahead of their last league match against Netherlands at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday, to blast former Pakistan Test cricketer Hasan Azad for his bizarre claims and allegations of cheating on India.
Hasan Azad on a Pakistan TV channel had claimed that Indian pacers Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj have been getting different balls. He had appealed to the ICC to launch an investigation into the matter. Raza had also alleged that India are manipulating the Decision Review System (DRS) system in their favour.

The statements from Hasan Raza, who played 7 Test matches and 16 ODIs for Pakistan, was ridiculed even by Pakistan legend Wasim Akram. He had slammed Raza for bringing shame to the entire nation through his bizarre comments.
"I've been reading about this for the last two days. I want to have the same thing these guys are having, sounds like fun. Mind is not there. You are not only embarrassing yourself but us too," Akram had said on A Sport.
On Wednesday, India fast bowler Mohammed Shami took the onus on himself to rip apart Hasan Raza through his Instagram Story. He said Raza should be ashamed of himself and learn to enjoy the success of others.
"Sharm karo yaar game par focus karo na ki faltu bakwas par kabi to dusre ki success ko enjoy kia karo chii yar ICC World Cup hai apk local tournament, nahi hai or Ap player hi the na. Wasim bhai ne samjhaya hai explain kia tha phir bhir Hahahahhahahahahaah. apne player apne Wasim akram par yakin nahi apko. apna tarif karne main lage hai janab apto just like a wow (Please have some shame. Focus on the game rather than talking rubbish. Enjoy and chill; this is the ICC Cricket World Cup, not a local tournament. I hope you really were a player! Wasim Akram explained, but still, hahahaha. You do not trust your own Wasim Akram. This person is busy praising himself)," wrote Shami on his Instagram story.
Shami recently overtook Zaheer Khan and Javagal Srinath's tally to become the India bowler with most wickets in ODI World Cups. Shami is currently the joint fourth-highest wicket-taker in the World Cup 2023. He has picked 16 wickets in just four matches at an average of 7. He is the leading wicket-taker for India. The 33-year-old has one more wicket Jasprit Bumrah (15 wickets from 8 matches).
