World Cup 2023: Former England captain Michael Vaughan has termed Mohammad Hafeez's statement on Virat Kohli following his record-equalling 49th ODI hundred as 'nonsense'. Vaughan shared a clip of Hafeez calling Virat Kohli selfish, before pointing to the former Pakistan captain that the star batter played a stellar knock on a difficult batting surface.
In the video, Hafeez can be heard slamming Kohli for thinking about his own milestones and not thinking about his country. He said he is a fan of Virat Kohli but his approach in three matches to achieve his elusive 49th hundred was questionable.

"I saw a sense of selfishness in Virat Kohli's batting and this happened for the third time in this World Cup. In the 49th over, he was looking to take a single to reach his own hundred and he didn't put the team first", Hafeez said.
Michael Vaughan took note of the comments and shut Hafeez by pointing out that India won that match against South Africa by 243 runs. He also praised India for being a dominance force in the World Cup 2023 and staying unbeaten by winning eight matches on the trot.
"Come on @MHafeez22 !!! India have hammered 8 teams playing great cricket .. @imVkohli now has 49 tons and his last was an anchor role innings on a tricky pitch .. His team won by over 200 !!!! This is utter nonsense."
Virat Kohli has been in terrific form in the ongoing ICC marquee event. He is currently the second-highest run-scorer in the tournament which has moved towards its business end. Kohli has scored 543 runs in eight matches at an average of 108.60 and a strike rate of 88.29. Highest run-scorer Quinton de Kock has scored just seven runs more than him.
