The World Cup 2023 is continuing in full fledge at the moment in India. At about the halfway stage, there are four teams who are leading in the semi final race.
Hosts India, New Zealand, South Africa and Australia are the four front runners who are edging closer towards the semi final places. Although there are teams still involved in the semi final race like Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Netherlands, it will be a hard task for them to topple any of the top guns and reclaim their position in the top four.

But the World Cup 2023 semifinal qualification is not the only impetus for the teams in this tournament. Even if the teams don't qualify for the semifinals, it will be pivotal for all the teams to get as close as possible towards the top four spots.
It is being reported that the World Cup 2023 table places will determine the teams who will qualify for the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025, which will be held in Pakistan. According to an ICC spokesperson, the 8-team tournament will get its participating teams from the final World Cup 2023 table.
It was agreed upon by the members during an ICC meeting in 2021. This also means the likes of West Indies, Zimbabwe, Ireland - who didn't take part in the World Cup 2023 won't be a part of the Champions Trophy in Pakistan.
According to reports, the top seven teams, along with hosts Pakistan, will be qualifying for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Hence the seven teams except Pakistan who will be placed in the top seven of this World Cup 2023 table, will get their entry for the champions trophy in two years time.
If Pakistan are placed in the top 7 then the team who finishes 8th will be getting their opportunity to take part in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
