World Cup: India and Pakistan fans clash, 4 injured

Sydney, Feb 16: India and Pakistan fans clashed in Sydney and four were injured in the brawl while watching the high voltage World Cup 2015 match on Sunday (February 15).

With India and Pakistan cricket teams battling it out at Adelaide Oval and about 40 fans were enjoying the spectacle on a big screen at Sydney's Merrylands RSL Club and fight broke out, according to a report in "Sydney Morning Herald".

"Four people were taken to hospital with a range of injuries after a wild brawl broke out between about 40 fans watching the match on a big screen at the club on Military Road about 9.30 pm," the report said.

"A NSW Police spokesman said a group of fans had gathered to watch the match, broadcast live from the Adelaide Oval, when tensions boiled over. Chairs and tables were hurled across the room, and police confirmed one person was hit on the head by a glass that was thrown," the report added.

The report quoted the police as saying injuries were "not life-threatening" and cause of the violence was "not immediately known".

India defeated Pakistan by 76 runs to make it 6-0 over their arch rivals in World Cup history. Virat Kohli was the hero with a century.
