ODI World Cup warm-ups: Pakistan bowling exposed as New Zealand chase down 346 in just 43.4 overs in Hyderabad

ODI World Cup warm-ups: Shaheen Afridi and Shadab Khan did not bowl but it would not be wrong to say that Pakistan bowling unit was exposed in the high-scoring warm-up match against New Zealand at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

New Zealand hammered their way to a comprehensive five-wicket win after chasing down 346 in just 43.4 overs. The foundation was laid by opener Rachin Ravindra who slammed 97 runs off 72 balls. The innings from the southpaw saw him hit 16 fours and a six.

His opening partner Devon Conway was dismissed by comeback man Hasan Ali for a golden duck but Kane Williamson walked in to do what he does best. He stabilised the New Zealand innings and forged a 179-run partnership for the second wicket with Ravindra.

Williamson retired himself out after scoring 54 off 50. Stand-in captain Tom Latham was dismissed for 18 off 13 by leg-spinner Usama Mir who also picked the wicket of Glenn Phillips (3 off 7), but Daryl Mitchell (59 off 57) and Mark Chapman (65* off 41) kept the momentum going for the Kiwis. Earlier, in the day Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat first but their openers Abdullah Shafique (14) and Imam-ul-Haq (1) failed to give their team a strong start.

But Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan shone in their maiden outing on Indian soil. Babar scored 80 off 84, while Rizwan scored 103 off 94 before retiring himself out.

Saud Shakeel was also mighty impressive. He came out to bat at five and smashed 75 runs off 73 balls. Agha Salman remained unbeaten on 33 off 23 alongside Iftikhar Ahmed (7* off 3). Shadab Khan hit two sixes to accumulate 16 runs off 11 balls.
