After Wanderers, it's Wankhede: Gayle hits ton in first match of T20 World Cup again

Mumbai, March 16: Dashing West Indian batsman Chris Gayle hit a match-winning ton in his team's opening game in a T20 World Cup for the second time on Wednesday.

Gayle matches his own feat of 2007 against SA

With his unbeaten 100 off 48 balls, Gayle matched his own feat of 2007. The left-hander slammed 117 off just 57 balls against hosts South Africa in the first match of the inaugural T20 World Cup at the Wanderers in Johannesburg, South Africa.

However, the West Indies could not win the match, thanks to Herschelle Gibbs's blistering 90 off 55 balls. The South Africans overhauled the West Indies' 205 for 6 wickets with little over two overs to spare.

With his ton against England, he became the first player to hit two centuries in the T20 World Cup.

Gayle is the only player to have scored a Test triple century, a double century in 50-over cricket and centuries in T20.
