World T20: Knock in Mohali is my best, says an 'emotional' Virat Kohli

Mohali, March 28: After guiding India into the semi-finals of the ICC World Twenty20, Virat Kohli rated his 82 not out against Australia as the best knock of his T20I career.

Chasing 161 at the PCA Stadium last night (March 27), India won with 6 wickets and 5 balls to spare thanks to Kohli's masterclass of unbeaten 82 off 51 balls (9x4, 2x6).

Virat Kohli celebrates the victory against Australia

It was a virtual quarter-final with the winner going to the knockout stage from Group 2 as the second placed team. And as it has become the norm in every match, Kohli was the hero for the hosts.

"This innings has to be in my top three, perhaps the top right now because I'm a bit emotional," Kohli said after the victory as he collected the Man-of-the-match award.

The fans at the stadium chanted "Kohli, Kohli, Kohli" as he smashed the Australian bowlers in the final overs with the required run rate mounting.

The 27-year-old did not forget to thank the fans. "I would like to thank the crowd, it was unbelievable, the support helps you push through those tough times. This is what you play cricket for. You need challenges in every game, they improve you as a cricketer. I don't know what to say, I am overwhelmed," he said.

India will now face West Indies in the last-four clash at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium on March 31 (Thursday).
