MI lost the openers early, but skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (37 off 39 balls) and Nat-Sciver (60* off 55 balls) averted early pressure to take Mumbai Indians out of danger. Amelia Kerr (14* off 18 balls) played a cameo to take MI home in the final over.

Earlier, DC suffered early blows, losing three in a hurry, but skipper Meg Lanning (35 off 29 balls) held one end, while Shikha Pandey (27* off 17 balls) and Radha Yadav (27* off 12 balls) played late cameos to take the team to a challenging total.

This was the third meeting between the two sides this season. In the league stage, Mumbai Indians beat Delhi Capitals by 8 wickets with 5 overs to spare in the first fixture, while DC claimed a 9-wicket victory with 11 overs to spare in the reverse fixture.

The two sides finished top of the WPL 2023 points table with 12 points each separated only Net Run Rate. So, DC as table-toppers earned a direct entry into the final, while second-placed MI registered a 72-run win over third-placed UP Warriorz in the eliminator to book their spot.
