Women's Premier League, India's brand new franchise tournament of women's cricket is set to commence on Saturday (March 4).
Five teams will participate in the inaugural season as the three-week-long tournament will take place in Mumbai across two stadiums.
Delhi Capitals will be kicking off their WPL campaign with a tie against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the inaugural season of the WPL, which is set to be played on March 5 at the Brabourne Stadium.
The DC-W team bought some terrific players in the WPL 2023 auction earlier this year and have formulated a strong squad for the upcoming season.
They bought Indian batter Jemimah Rodrigues for INR 2.2 crore, their most expensive Indian buy of the auction. Dashing batter Shafali Verma, and all-rounder Radha Yadav are also among the Indian contingent in their team.
DC also have some big overseas names in their squad as well. Australia captain Meg Lanning, veteran Proteas all-rounder Marizanne Kapp is there, while young Indian sensation Titas Sadhu, who was instrumental in India's U19 T20 WC win, is also in their ranks.
The Delhi team have a fantastic blend of youth and experienced players in their mix, and indeed go into the tournament as one of the favourites. The DC franchise spent INR 11.65 crore of their INR 12 crore salary cap in the auction and will be hoping for a decent outing in the tournament.
Here we take a look at the DC schedule, probable starting XI, key players and squad ahead of the WPL 2023 season-

The Delhi Capitals have a strong squad. With the abundance of talent and experience, they can be a force in the WPL. Picking up their key players can be a tricky thing, but here are the names who may play a huge part for them-
Marizanne Kapp: South Africa's Marizanne Kapp will have a dual role in the DC team. Her bowling, and batting up at the order can become a huge factor for DC going forward. She is an experienced campaigner and can be a perfect guide for youngsters like Titas Sadhu.
Jemimah Rodrigues: The Indian batter was DC's most expensive buy and she will have to prove her worth with the bat. Jemimah has been also named as the vice-captain, and it will be a huge learning curve for her as Meg Lanning's deputy.
Shafali Verma: Shafali Verma didn't have the best of the T20 World Cup recently. She was outstanding for the U19 team, but failed to replicate that in the senior team. It will be the perfect opportunity for her to stamp the authority in the WPL, and her blockbuster starts in the powerplay can be a significant factor for the Capitals in the tournament.

This is how the DC first team can look in the WPL 2023.
DC-W Predicted Starting Lineup: Shafali Verma, Meg Lanning, Marizanne Kapp, Jemimah Rodrigues, Alice Capsey, Taniya Bhatia, Shikha Pandey, Radha Yadav, Poonam Yadav, Titas Sadhu, Jess Jonassen
