
Mumbai, Mar 8: Halfr centuries from Sophia Dunkley and Harleen Deol proved pivotal as Gujarat Giants defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by 11 runs for their maiden win the Women's Premier League (WPL 2023) here on Wednesday.
Opener Dunkley, who continued in absence of injured skipper Beth Mooney, scored 65 after Giants opted to bat first while Harleen Deol maintained his form from the last game with 67-run innings to propel the Ahmedabad-based team a 201/7 in 20 overs.
In reply, RCB managed 190 for six to succumb to their third defeat on the trot. Sophie Devine waged a lone battle for the Bangalore outfit with a 45-ball 66.

RCB captain Smriti Mandhana got out cheaply for 18, while Ellyse Perry made 32.
For the Giants, world's No. 1 all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner came out on top in bowling, claiming 3/31 with her off-spin. Heather Knight, Shreyanka Patil and Annabelle Sutherland bowled crucial spells to stop RCB from reaching the record run-chase with two wickets each.
