West Indies star Deandra Dottin has been ruled out of the Women's Premier League (WPL) for the upcoming season.
Dottin, the West Indies all-rounder, was bought by Gujarat Giants for a fee of INR 60 lakh in the auction, but it will be a big blow now for the Giants as they won't be getting the services of the star player in the WPL.
Gujarat Giants have announced Australian all-rounder Kim Garth as the replacement for Deandra Dottin. Garth was left unsold in the auction. She was a part of the Australia squad that won the T20 World Cup in South Africa last month. The 26-year-old didn't play any games in the tournament and only took part in the warmup matches.
Garth, a former Ireland international, recently moved to Australia and has switched her allegiance since then. She plays for Melbourne Stars in the WBBL and has now got a team in the WPL as well. She has already joined the Giants squad and is in contention to play against Mumbai Indians as the WPL kicks off on Saturday (March 4).
Fellow Australian Beth Mooney, who was the man of the match in the T20 World Cup Final, is going to lead the Gujarat Giants in the WPL, while there are other big names such as Ashleigh Gardner, Sophia Dunkley. Harleen Deol, Sabbhineni Meghana, Sneh Rana are among the Indian contingents in the squad.
