The Final of the inaugural Women's Premier League created the largest viewership in the history of any women's sports event in the world.
WPL 2023 creates viewership record: The ultimate clash between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals witnessed more than 10 million viewers on Sunday (March 26), which is a history for any women's sports event. The streaming platform JioCinema also touched over 50 minutes of average watch time for every user per match in the entire WPL 2023 season.

After creating a new record, the Viacom18 sports CEO Anil Jayaraj said, "Our vision is to nurture the WPL into the biggest women's sporting league in the world, and this is a big leap in that direction. To see it already on its way to becoming the largest viewed sports event in the world in the first season is a remarkable feat and testament to the potential."
The WPL 2023 was the first step in the franchise cricket setup in India and it has surpassed all the expectations in its very first season. Mumbai Indians won the final with a seven-wicket victory over Delhi Capitals, as India and MI captain Harmanpreet Kaur lifted the title.
With a gigantic success in the WPL, the focus now shifts to the Indian Premier League, which is set to commence on Friday (March 31).
This year it promises to be a mega version as the IPL returns to its traditional way after four long years. 10 teams will fight it out for the glory as defending champions Gujarat Titans play Chennai Super Kings in the opener in Ahmedabad on Friday.
The broadcasting rights have taken a tweak in IPL as Star network could only hold on to the telecast deal. Viacom18 bagged the digital platform deal and will live stream the entire IPL for free on JioCinema. Viewers won't have to pay a single penny to watch the IPL as they can watch the matches through JioCinema app and website using any screen.
