WPL 2024 Auction: The Women's Premier League 2024 auction witnessed some unbelievable scenes as a total of 165 players - 104 Indian and 61 overseas players including 15 associate nations representatives - went under the hammer.
Uncapped Kashvee Gautam made headlines after being grabbed by Gujarat Giants (GG) for a whopping amount of Rs 2 crore. Australia Women all-rounder Annabel Sutherland also fetched Rs 2 crore by Delhi Capitals.

However, there were also a few star players who surprisingly did not get any buyers. Sri Lanka Women captain Chamari Athapaththu not getting a WPL emerged as the biggest surprise. A look at top five players who surprisingly went unsold in the WPL 2024 Auction.
Chamari Athapaththu: The Sri Lanka Women captain was the second-highest run-scorer in the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) 2023. She scored 552 runs in 14 innings at an average of 42.46. She also picked nine wickets at an average of 27.22.
The vastly experienced 33-year-old southpaw has the experience of featuring in 122 T20I matches which has seen her score 2651 runs at an average of 22.65. She has also picked 40 wickets in the format at the international level.
Deandra Dottin: The West Indies star was one of the very few players to place themselves under the top base price category of Rs 50 lakh. The 32-year-old all-rounder surprisingly did not get a single buyer.
Dottin has scored 2697 runs in 127 T20I matches and also picked 62 wickets in the format at an average of 19.19 with her medium pace bowling. She has scores of 25, 47 and 35 in her last three T20 outings.
Tammy Beaumont: The highly experienced England opener showed good form in WBBL 2023. She scored 286 runs in 14 matches at an average of 21.14 and a strike rate of 119.35.
Overall, the 32-year-old right-hand batter has featured in 99 T20I matches and scored 1721 runs at an average of 23.90 and a strike rate 108.37. She has hit one hundred and 10 fifties in the format.
Kim Garth: Another star player who did get a buyer was Australia all-rounder Kim Garth. The 27-year-old had a base price of Rs 50 lakh. The fast-bowling all-rounder has scored 764 runs in 55 T20Is at a strike rate of 78.92. She has 45 T20I wickets to her name at an average of 20.88 and an economy rate of 5.93.
Devika Vaidya: India star Devika Vaidya was also not picked by any of the five franchises. The 26-year-old could have been a high-value all-rounder in home conditions.
Vaidya has an average of 22.50 and a strike rate of 98.90 with the bat in the T20Is format. The leg-spinner has picked 10 wickets in the T20I format at an average of 27 and a strike rate of 7.50.
Note: Alana King, Amanda-Jade Wellington and Amy Jones were also a few big names who went unsold in the WPL 2024 auction.
