WPL 2024 Auction Most Expensive Buys: The Women's Premier League 2024 auction is taking place on Saturday (December 9). Five teams have taken part in the auction as they aim to form a formidable squad ahead of Season 2 of the tournament.
165 players underwent the hammer in the auction to fill 30 available spots across the five teams. There were some expensive buys in the auction as the franchises splashed their money on the top talents across the world.

Kashvee Gautam raised many eyebrows after her gigantic price in the WPL 2024 auction. The 20-year-old Punjab all-rounder was snapped up by Gujarat Giants for a staggering price of INR 2 crore in the auction. She is mainly a seamer who can use the long handle of the bat.
Gujarat Giants and UP Warriorz fiercely contested for her signature but it was the Giants who prevailed in the race. She has now become the most expensive uncapped player in WPL history.
Annabel Sutherland has become an expensive buy for Delhi Capitals, who went all in for the Australian all-rounder. The 22-year-old Aussie player created a bidding war between Mumbai and Delhi Capitals, but the latter secured the signing of the coveted player.
Vrinda Dinesh has become the 2nd highest uncapped earner in WPL history as she was snapped up by UP Warriorz for a humongous amount of INR 1.3 crore. The 22-year-old from Karnataka will be ecstatic with the windfall.
Shabnim Ismail was the subject of an intense three-way battle in the auction. RCB-W and Gujarat Giants were in the race but the 35-year-old veteran was roped in by Mumbai Indians for a whopping 1.2 crore.
Phoebe Litchfield, the 20-year-old Australian batter went for INR 1 crore. Gujarat Giants and UP Warriorz fought for her signature and the former ended up landing the talented Australia international. Litchfield was also the first pick of the WPL 2024 auction.
Ekta Bisht was in the wishlist for both RCB and GGT, but in the end, it was RCB-W who got the player. The 37-year-old Indian spinner has played 63 ODIs and 42 T20Is for India, but this will be her first WPL experience.
Georgia Wareham was picked up by RCB-W at her base price of 40 Lakh. The Australian all-rounder played for Gujarat Giants last season but will be playing in the Reds of RCB this year.
England batter Danielle Wyatt was sold at her base price of INR 30 Lakh by UP Warriorz.
England Women's pacer Kate Cross will be playing for RCB-W as she was taken at her base price of 30 Lakh for the upcoming season.
The 29-year-old will be playing for Gujarat Giants in the WPL 2024 season. Meghna Singh is an all-rounder and has represented India A in the past. She will be hoping for a decent outing in her inaugural WPL season.
Veda Krishnamurthy (Gujarat Giants), Sabbhineni Meghana (RCB-W), Sophie Molineux (RCB-W) and Simran Bahadur (RCB-W) were also sold for INR 30 Lakh in the auction.
