WPL 2024 Auction: Royal Challengers Bangalore Women (RCBW) coach Luke Williams has opened up on buying and acquiring the services of 'MS Dhoni's fan' and England superstar Kate Cross.
Kate Cross, a fan of IPL, CSK and MS Dhoni, was bought by RCB at her base price of Rs 30 lakh. She will be seen playing under the captaincy of Smriti Mandhana in the upcoming.

“I think everyone is an MS Dhoni fan who supports CSK. I don’t know if I know anyone who doesn’t like him as a person or as a cricketer. I’ve just always looked at the way he has led his team. He looks really calm and collective. I’ve been a captain myself and I know how stressful those situations could be to be able to show that even if you are not feeling it is quite a skill," Kate Cross had told News18 last year.
Luke Williams said that RCB would be benefited by the addition of experienced Kate Cross. He also talked about India star Ekta Bisht who was bought for Rs 60 lakh by the franchise.
"Both are extremely experienced cricketers, which is, I think with the WPL, to have that experience at international level and in Indian conditions for obviously Ekta but also for Kate is so, so important. So we're really keen to get that experience. We think Kate's able to bowl in different phases and Ekta's obviously played a lot of international cricket and we think should be a really good acquisition to the RCB squad," Luke Williams said.
RCB had managed to win just two of their eight matches in the WPL 2023. They had finished fourth in the five-team table. Sophie Molineux, Simran Bahadur, S Meghana, Shubha Satheesh and Georgia Wareham are the other players RCB bought in the WPL 2024 auction.
