WPL 2024: From Nat Sciver-Brunt to Harmanpreet Kaur; Five All-rounders who can deliver goods with bat and ball

WPL 2024 will go all guns blazing from February 23 (Friday) onwards. The last edition’s finalists, Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals will lock horns with each other in the tournament opener. For the record, Mumbai Indians beat Delhi Capitals in the inaugural season’s final.

Nat Sciver-Brunt: Nat Sciver-Brunt who plays for England women's cricket team is known for her potential to contribute significantly with both bat and ball, a trait that made her one of the most valuable all-rounders in the women's game. Playing for Mumbai Indians, Nat scored 332 runs in WPL 2023, the second-most by a player and besides that, she took 10 wickets to her name.


Harmanpreet Kaur: Harmanpreet Kaur has been the best-performing Indian woman cricketer in the WPL 2023 edition. She scored 281 runs including three fifties for Mumbai Indians last season, the most by an Indian player. It was under her captaincy, MI beat DC to win the title. She is expected to deliver the goods as a batsman and captain going forward in WPL 2024.

Ellyse Perry: Australian international Ellyse Perry is certainly one of the bright prospects to watch out for in the upcoming edition of the Women’s Premier League. The 33-year-old is one of the assets who has all the tools and ingredients to change the complexion of the game, courtesy of her all-round potential. The Royal Challengers all-rounder who scored 253 runs and took 4 wickets in the previous season will be looking forward to bringing the best out of herself.

Tahlia McGrath: Tahlia McGrath operates as a right-handed batter and bowls right-arm medium pace for UP Warriorz in the Women's Premier League. She was one of the best performers with the bat in the inaugural season where she piled up 253 runs in 8 appearances at an average of 42.16 including 2 fifties. On the other hand, she took 2 wickets to her name.

Amelia Kerr: The 23-year-old Wellington-born is one of the versatile players who is capable of chipping in with valuable contributions with the bat and ball. She has bowling weapons such as googlies, flippers and leg spins in her repertoire, which makes her a valuable asset. Playing for Mumbai Indians, Amelia Kerr took 15 wickets in WPL 2023, whereas she scored 149 runs at a strike rate of 133.03.
