Women's Premier League side UP Warriorz has roped in Abhay Sharma, formerly part of the Indian women's cricket team support staff, as a fielding and wicket-keeping coach ahead of the upcoming WPL 2024, which is scheduled to start on February 23.
The former Railways captain had coached the Delhi Ranji team in the previous domestic season. Sharma has also been the fielding coach of India A and India U-19. England's Jon Lewis is the head coach of UP Warriorz.

"Abhay has joined the UP Warriorz training camp," said a WPL source. The 54-year-old played 89 first class games between 1988 and 2003. Here is a look at the UP Warriorz coaching staff for second season of Women's Premier League:
The team is currently training in Bengaluru. The first leg of WPL will be played in Bengaluru before the caravan moves to Delhi for the second and final leg. UP Warriorz retained majority of their squad from last season and bought five players from the auction.
They will continue to be led by Australia's Alyssa Healy with Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma serving as her deputy, while the likes of Australia's Grace Harris, Tahlia McGrath and England's Sophie Ecclestone all continue their stints in the UP-based team.
The UP Warriorz splashed Rs 1.3 Crore to bring in India batter Vrinda Dinesh, and also added Gouher Sultana, Poonam Khemnar and Saima Thakor alongside England's Dani Wyatt at the auction.
The Warriorz were also forced into a change ahead of the season when England fast bowler withdrew. The UP based side roped in Sri Lanka's Chamari Athapaththu as a replacement for Bell. Here is a look at the UP Warriorz playing group:
