Mumbai Indians Women acquired the signing of G Kamalini in the WPL 2025 auction ob Sunday (December 15).

MI were in a duel with the Delhi Capitals for the signing of Kamalini, but ended up signing her for a whopping money of Rs 1.60 crore, thus making her one of the most expensive signings of the auction.

Who is G Kamalini?

G. Kamalini is a young and rising cricketing talent from India, widely regarded as one of the most promising players. Born on July 20, 2008, Kamalini is just 16 years old but has already made significant waves in the domestic and international cricketing circuits. She is a wicketkeeper and bats left-handed. She is known for her explosive batting even at a tender age. She can also bowl legbreak, which further adds the value.

Kamalini's breakthrough year came in 2023, where she delivered standout performances that earned her recognition on the national stage. A key player for Tamil Nadu in the U-19 circuit, she showcased her immense batting skills by scoring 311 runs in eight games, helping her team clinch the coveted U-19 T20 Trophy in October.

Kamalini further solidified her reputation as a reliable batter when she starred in the U-19 tri-series final for India 'B' against South Africa. In a high-stakes match, she top-scored with a brilliant knock of 79 runs.

Playing for India in the Inaugural U-19 Asia Cup

Following her domestic and tri-series successes, Kamalini was selected to represent India in the inaugural U-19 Women's Asia Cup.

Kamalini has showcased her mettle with an outstanding knock for India U19 women's team against Pakistan. She scored 44 runs off just 29 deliveries as India beat Pakistan by 9 wickets. Her innings had 4 boundaries and 3 sixes.

Interestingly, Kamalini was part of the CSK Academy and honed her skills in her formative years at the training centre.
