WPL 2025: ‘Been Incredible’ – RCB Star Ellyse Perry Reflects on Fans Support & Playing Across Venues

By MyKhel Staff

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star is disappointed with the team's failed title defence, but the Australian all-rounder was thankful for the fan support across the four venues in the Women's Premier League season 3 - WPL 2025.

Perry played a key role with both bat and ball as defending champions RCB registered a consolation 11-run win against Mumbai Indians (MI) on Tuesday (March 11) in the final league stage match of WPL 2025 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.

After opening their campaign with two back-to-back wins in Vadodara, RCB went on a five-match losing streak, including four in four at home in Bengaluru and one in Mumbai, denting their playoff chances before the final league match.

The Aussie scored an unbeaten 49 to set a 200-run target for Mumbai Indians before returning to bowl the crucial final over, which could have seen the result go either way. But Perry, who gave away 16 runs in the first four deliveries, held her nerve to stop MI from pulling off a stunning chase.

Following the match, Perry shared her thoughts on the season, her favorite venue, and the fans when speaking exclusively on Amul Cricket Live on JioHotstar. Perry first revealed the disappointment before picking some happy moments.

"It has been a tricky season for us. We started with some really strong wins and ended on a high note with another victory tonight. But in between, we lost some close games and had a few performances that weren't up to our standards, which is a bit disappointing," Perry said on JioHotstar.

"That said, it has been an incredibly enjoyable season in an amazing competition. Playing for RCB has been a fantastic experience, especially because of the fans. The support we receive, particularly in Bengaluru, has been incredible, but it has been equally enjoyable to see fans turning up for us across different venues.

"It's hard to pick a favourite venue, but Chinnaswamy Stadium is special for us. However, the matches in Baroda at the start of the tournament were brilliant, and playing in Mumbai and Lucknow also added great variety. Moving the competition across multiple venues has been a fantastic experience, and I hope fans have enjoyed coming out to watch the matches."

Perry finished the campaign with 372 runs in 8 innings, including 4 fifties and a best score of 90 not out against UP Warriorz. The Australian pace all-rounder also claimed 3 wickets in her 5 bowling innings.
