All-rounder Jess Jonassen on Friday (February 28) drew level with Harmanpreet Kaur for the record of most player of the match awards in Women's Premier League history following Delhi Capitals' 9-wicket win over Mumbai Indians in Bengaluru.
The Australian had claimed a player of the match award for her all-round brilliance in the previous outing against Gujarat Giants at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, where she continued to impress with the ball, helping DC restrict Mumbai Indians to 123/9.

Jonassen was awarded the player of the match for her impressive bolwing figures of 3 for 25 in her allotted four overs. Among her scalps were, the dangerous duo of Mumbai Indians - Nat Sciver-Brunt and Harmanpreet as well as a young G Kamilini.
While she trapped Harmanpreet leg before the wicket (LBW) in the 11th over of the match, Jonassen struck again in the 14th over, removing Sciver-Brunt catching the MI all-rounder off her own bowling. In the final over of her quota, Jonassen castled Kamilini. This performance saw her bag the POTM.
This was Jonassen's fifth player of the match award in the WPL. It took her past teammate Marizanne Kapp and level with Harmanpreet. Here is a look at the most player of the match award winners in Women's Premier League history:
Coming back to the DC vs MI clash in WPL 2025, Mumbai Indians set a meagre target of 124, which was chased down by Delhi Capitals in 14.3 overs with 9 wickets in hand thanks to the unbeaten fifty from their skipper Meg Lanning.
Following the game, Jonassed, who received her second successive player of the match award, said, "I think it's a bit of a shock that I am up here. I think the skipper should be here having this conversation.
"After that first over, I knew there were a few balls I mis-executed, obviously a change in the plan towards the back end of the over with a change in field. I knew that getting the ball outside the powerplay, I'll be able put some pressure on them. It is nice, nice to get the wickets."
