Nat Sciver-Brunt delivered a record-breaking performance in the eliminator against Gujarat Giants, guiding Mumbai Indians to a resounding victory and a spot in the WPL 2025 final.
The star all-rounder played a breathtaking knock of 77 off just 41 balls, helping MI post a mammoth total of 213/4. Her innings, laced with 10 boundaries and two sixes, saw her shatter multiple records and cement her place as one of the WPL's greatest batters.

With this innings, Sciver-Brunt became the highest run-scorer in WPL history, surpassing Royal Challengers Bangalore's Ellyse Perry. She now has 997 runs in the tournament, making her the most prolific batter in WPL history. Adding to her accolades, she became the first player to register five half-centuries in a single WPL season, further underlining her consistency and dominance with the bat.
Sciver-Brunt had already surpassed Perry's record for the most runs in a single WPL edition during Mumbai's final league-stage game against RCB. Her latest milestone adds to an incredible campaign, where she has been the backbone of Mumbai's batting lineup.
Alongside her, Hayley Matthews also delivered a stunning all-round performance. She matched Sciver-Brunt's 77 runs and later picked up three wickets to ensure Gujarat Giants never found momentum in their chase. Gujarat faltered under pressure and were eventually bowled out for 166, handing MI a comprehensive win.
With this victory, Mumbai Indians have set up a grand final showdown against Delhi Capitals on March 16, which will be a repeat of the 2023 summit clash. As they prepare to chase a second title, all eyes will be on Sciver-Brunt to continue her exceptional form and lead her team to WPL glory. If her performances so far are anything to go by, another historic knock could be on the cards in the final.
On the other hand, after ending up on the losing side in the first two seasons, the Capitals will do everything in their capacity to win their inaugural crown.
