The Women's Premier League 2025 witnessed an electrifying contest between Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women (RCB-W) and UP Warriorz Women (UPW-W) at the Chinnaswamy, as the match ended in a dramatic tie, pushing the game into a Super Over.
It was Richa Ghosh, who did a MS Dhoni to deny UP Warriorz a victory. Renuka Singh bowled a full delivery outside off stump, and Kranti Goud attempted a drive but missed completely.

The ball went through to wicketkeeper Richa and Goud, along with Sophie Ecclestone, attempted to steal a bye. Ghosh quickly reacted, ran forward, and broke the stumps before Ecclestone could reach the crease. Ecclestone was well short of her ground, resulting in a run-out. With this dismissal, UP Warriorz were all out for 180, tying the match and forcing a Super Over.
Batting first, RCB-W put up an imposing total of 180/6 in their 20 overs, courtesy of a stellar knock by Ellyse Perry, who remained unbeaten on 90 off 56 balls. Perry's innings was laced with exquisite strokes, including 9 fours and 3 sixes, providing the backbone for RCB's total.
Opener Smriti Mandhana (6 off 9) fell early, but Danni Wyatt-Hodge anchored the innings with an attacking 57 off 41 balls. The duo of Perry and Wyatt-Hodge forged a vital 94-run partnership that steadied the innings. Contributions from Richa Ghosh (8 off 6) and Kanika Ahuja (5 off 3) helped accelerate towards the backend of the innings. However, wickets at regular intervals kept RCB from breaching the 200-run mark.
Among UPW bowlers, Deepti Sharma (2/42) and Tahlia McGrath (1/30) provided key breakthroughs. Chinelle Henry (1/34) and Sophie Ecclestone (0/29) bowled economical spells, restricting RCB from running away with the game.
Chasing 181, UP Warriorz had a mixed start as Renuka Singh (2/36) dismissed both openers early, removing Kiran Navgire (24 off 12) and Vrinda Dinesh (14 off 10) inside the powerplay. RCB tightened their grip further when Tahlia McGrath fell for a duck, stumped off Sneh Rana (3/27).
Deepti Sharma (25 off 13) tried to resurrect the innings, but her dismissal left UPW struggling at 72/4. Grace Harris (8 off 10) and Uma Chetry (14 off 11) failed to capitalize, while Shweta Sehrawat (31 off 25) held her end before falling to Perry.
With the match slipping away, Sophie Ecclestone (33 off 19) and Saima Thakor (14 off 8) staged a thrilling counterattack, running hard between the wickets and finding boundaries at crucial moments. Their valiant efforts dragged the match to the final over with 9 needed off 6 balls.
Ecclestone took it down to the wire, but a run-out on the final ball saw UPW bowled out, tying the game.
