The Women's Premier League (WPL) 2026 launches its fourth season today (January 9) with a high-energy opening ceremony at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, ahead of the blockbuster opener between defending champions Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
WPL 2026 spans January 9 to February 5 across Navi Mumbai (first 11 matches) and Vadodara's Kotambi Stadium (remaining league games, playoffs, and final on February 5). Five teams will compete in the premier women's cricket franchise tournament.

As MI women take on RCB women in the first match of the WPL season, a significant number of dignitaries are expected to be present at the DY Patil Stadium today. BCCI chief Mithun Manhas will be there along with the WPL chairman Jayesh George. ICC president Jay Shah may also be there, while a number of former India players and BCCI office bearers are set to attend the event.
The WPL 2026 opening ceremony and matches will telecast live on Star Sports Network in India, with streaming on the JioHotstar app and website. The stadium gates open around 5:00 PM IST and the match commences at 7:30 PM IST.
