Moreover, with the auction venue confirmed well ahead of the event, franchises will have additional time to assess their squads, make retention decisions, and work out their strategies before the bidding begins.

WPL 2027 Season 5 Dates Announced For Jan 14-Feb7 Auction Scheduled In Kochi On Oct 28

Journey Of WPL Over The Years

The journey of the WPL has been inspirational, especially given the growth of women's cricket in recent years. Since its launch in 2023, the league has produced a different champion in each of its first four editions, with Mumbai Indians winning the inaugural season. Royal Challengers Bengaluru claimed the title in 2024, Mumbai Indians returned to the top in 2025, and RCB secured their second championship in 2026.

Delhi Capitals, meanwhile, have been a constant presence in the title race, having featured in every WPL final so far. However, the franchise is yet to lift the trophy, adding another layer of intrigue to the 2027 season.

The WPL 2027 Player Auction will be held in Kochi on October 28, 2026, giving franchises plenty of time to assess their squads, finalise retentions and plan their strategies. Since the league began in 2023, four seasons have produced three title-winning campaigns for Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Mumbai Indians won the inaugural edition and reclaimed the trophy in 2025, while RCB lifted the title in 2024 and 2026. Delhi Capitals have reached the final in every season but remain without a championship. Their continued pursuit of a maiden title will be a key storyline in 2027.
