
India captain Harmanpreet Kaur wasn't the most expensive player at the inaugural Women's Premier League auction as she was sold for Rs 1.80 crore to Mumbai Indians.
At the time of writing, at least six players were sold for an amount higher than her, including Smriti Mandhana for Rs 3.40 crore to Royal Challengers Bangalore while Deepti Sharma went to UP Warriorz for Rs 2.60 crore.
Among big foreign buys, Australia's experienced Ashleigh Gardner was sold for Rs. 3.20 crore to Gujarat Giants while England's Nat Sciver-Brunt was also sold for Rs 3.20 crore to Mumbai Indians. The duo became the most foreign expensive buys at the WPL Auction.
Harmanpreet Kaur is currently leading the team in all the formats after leading Mithali Raj announced her retirement last year. Harmanpreet has been known for her power-hitting and earned nationwide recognition during the 2017 Women's T20 World Cup.
At the moment, she is leading the national team at the ongoing T20 World Cup in South Africa as India defeated arch-rivals Pakistan in a thrilling encounter to start their tournament campaign.

The 33-year-old batter played 147 WT20Is for India with close to 3000 runs to her name at an average of 28-plus. Known for her brisk scoring rate, she strikes at 120-plus in the format.
