WPL Auction: India Women's U-19 T20 World Cup-winning players who sizzled at historic auction

Six players apart from India internationals Shafali Verma and Richa Ghosh form India Women's U-19 T20 World Cup-winning team were handed Women's Premier League (WPL) contracts on Monday. Batting all-rounders Shweta Sehrawat and Parshavi Chopra, bowling all-rounder Soppadhandi Yashasri and pacer Titas Sadhu caught the attention of the five franchises as they took a big stride towards a stellar career ahead.

• Shweta Sehrawat: India's star performer and the vice-captain at the recently-concluded Women's U-19 T20 World Cup was picked by UP Warriorz for Rs 40 lakh. The top-order batter top-scored in the tournament with 297 runs at an average of 99 and a strike rate of 139.43. Out of the seven matches Sehrwat played, she hit fifties in three of them. She scored 125 more runs than captain Shafali Verma - the second highest-scorer for India.

• Parshavi Chopra: The 16-year-old from Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr was picked by UP Warriorz at his base price of Rs 10 lakh. She picked 11 wickest - the second-highest at the U-19 T20 World Cup. The leg-spinner will tag along with Sehrawat and get to learn from the likes of Deepti Sharma who was picked by the franchise for Rs 2.60 crore.

• Soppadhandi Yashasri: Pacer S Yashasri played only one match and bowled only two overs to concede 22 runs. The pacer has been picked by UP Warriorz for Rs 10 lakh.

• Titas Sadhu: Pacer Titas Sadhu picked six wickets in as many matches at a stunning average of 12.83 and a miserly economy of 4.27. Delhi Capitals have picker her for Rs 25 lakh. In the mega final of the summit clash she picked two wickets for six runs.

• Hurley Gala: The all-runder did not feature in any of India's seven matches at the Women's U-19 T20 World Cup 2023. Gujarat Giants have give her the opportunity by buying her for Rs 10 lakh.

• Shabman Shakil: 15-year-old pacer Shabnam Shakil bowled four overs in two matches at the U-19 Women's T20 World Cup and picked one wickets after spending 41 runs. She was picked by Gujarat Giants for Rs 10 lakh in the final minutes of the auction.
