WPL Auction: Nat Sciver to Ashleigh Gardner, most expensive overseas players

Nat Sciver and Ashleigh Gardner became the most expensive overseas or foreign players at the maiden WPL Auction as the duo was sold for Rs 3.20 crore each. They were the only foreign players to be sold beyond Rs 2 crore

Women's Premier League or WPL's inaugural auction saw players from Australia and England make a truck load of money. England's Nat Sciver-Brunt and Australia's Ashleigh Gardner becoming the joint most expensive overseas players to be sold at the WPL Auction for Rs 3.20 crore in Mumbai on Monday.

Sciver went to Mumbai Indians, who also bought Harmanpreet Kaur for Rs 1.80 crore while Gardner was sold to Gujarat Giants.

They were among the only foreign players to be sold for Rs 3 crore or more, in fact the only players to be sold above Rs 2 crore as the bidding prize for overseas players never went beyond the figure from that point on.

Australia's Beth Mooney become the third most expensive overseas player to be sold at Rs 2 crore to Gujarat Giants, who spent the most on overseas players with their most expensive Indian being Sneh Rana at Rs 75 lakh.

England's Sophie Ecclestone was the fourth-most expensive overseas player in the list as she was wrapped up by UP Warriorz, who aslo bought South Africa's Shabnim Ismail for Rs 1 crore. The all-rounder was followed by Australia's Ellyse Perry completing the top five list at Rs 1.70 crore to Royal Challengers Bangalore.

South Africa's Marizanne Kapp became the most expensive South African player at the auction with Delhi Capitals spending Rs 1.50 crore.
