India Women opener Smriti Mandhana celebrated in a wild fashion with his teammates in South Africa after Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) brought her a whopping Rs 3:40 crore.

In a video shown by the broadcasters, the southpaw was seen celebrating alongside teammates Harmanpreet Kaur, Shafali Verma, Deepti Sharma and others. Notably, the Women in Blue are in South Africa for the eighth edition of the Women's T20 World Cup 2023.

RCB were involved in a bidding war with the superstar cricketer with Mumbai Indians who gave it their all to get the services of the 26-year-old.

The Mumbai-born has played a total of 112 T20 matches and scored 2651 runs at an average of 27.32 and a strike rate of 123.13. She has hit 20 fifties in the format till date. Mandhana, the first-ever pick in the WPL, is a T20 globetrotter and has featured in the Big Bash League (BBL) and The Hundred.

After buying Mandhana, RCB also proclaimed the services of New Zealand skipper Sophie Devine (Rs 50 lakh) and Australia stalwart Ellyse Perry (Rs 1.70 Crore).

448 players will go under the hammer, with a maximum of 90 players making the cut across five teams - Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Giants, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore and UP Warriorz - as we expect bidding wars.

Every team will be able to pick 15-18 players, with a salary purse of INR 12 Crore each. INR 50 Lakhs, INR 40 Lakhs and INR 20 Lakhs is set as the reserved base price for foreign players while for uncapped players, the reserved base price is INR 10 Lakhs and INR 20 Lakhs.

The teams can have a maximum of 18 and a minimum of 15 players including seven overseas (one from an Associate nation). Each of the five franchises have a purse of Rs 12 crore each.
