
Indian opener Smriti Mandhana became the first player to go under the hammer at the inaugural Women's Premier League (WPL) auction and was sold for a whopping Rs 3.40 crore to Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Smriti Mandhana, who vice-captains the India women's team, is likely to become RCB captain at the maiden WPL season, starting next month.
Seen as the future captain of India, Smriti Mandhana is a reliable Indian opener, who is known for her elegant batting technique and somebody who can score runs at a decent rate up top.

The 26-year-old southpaw has played for India in 112 T20I and averages 27.32 and has an impressive strike rate of 123.13 with 20 half-centuries to her name. Smriti Mandhana has over 2600-plus runs to her name and has been among favourites of franchise cricket leagues around the globe.
She has played for Sydney Thunder and Brisbane Heat in Big Bash and Southern Brave in The Hundred. She also featured for Western Storm in England's T20 league.
