Navi Mumbai, Mar 20: Delhi Capitals took the top spot in the Women's Premier League for the first and crucial time as the Meg Lanning-led side defeated Mumbai Indians by nine wickets at the DY Patil Stadium on Monday.
Marizanne Kapp, who was adjudged player of the match, starred with the ball early on as she took two big Mumbai Indians wickets to push them to the backfoot. The side never recovered from the bad start and could only manage 109/8 in 20 overs.
Openers Shafali Verma (33), skipper Meg Lanning (32 not out) and Alice Capsey (38 not out) then helped Delhi Capitals chased down the 110-target for the loss of just one wicket in nine overs.
Both teams -- as well as UP Warriorz -- have secured the three playoffs berths in the tournament before this match.
Earlier, Pooja Vastrakar (26), Harmanpreet (23) and Issy Wong (23) were the main contributors with the bat for MI, while Kapp, Shikha Pandey and Jess Jonassen took two wickets each for Delhi Capitals in their four overs.
