We Love Representing DC and Will Give It Our All: Vice-Captain Jemimah Rodrigues as DC Target Maiden WPL Title

By MyKhel Staff

After an impressive campaign in the WPL 2025 league stage, the JSW and GMR co-owned Delhi Capitals are set to battle for the championship in the tournament final. Having finished at the top of the standings, DC will be making their third consecutive final appearance and are determined to claim the coveted title this time.

Vice-captain Jemimah Rodrigues spoke about the team's preparations, emphasizing how the short break ahead of the final has benefited them.

"This gap has actually worked in our favor. We've had meaningful team bonding sessions, and given the packed WPL schedule with back-to-back matches and constant travel, this break came at the perfect time. We've also had quality practice sessions on the Mumbai pitches to adapt to the conditions. Sometimes, a short reset like this can be very helpful in gearing up for the big game," she said during a virtual press conference.

Looking back at Delhi Capitals' previous WPL final appearances, Rodrigues remained upbeat and focused on the present. "Yes, we know how the last two seasons went, but that's the nature of cricket. Everything can change in a single game, in one night. The team is in high spirits, and no one is dwelling on the past. Our mindset is to step onto the field, enjoy the match, and put in our best performance. We love representing DC, we love this team, and we're going to give it our all on the finals night."

Rodrigues also reflected on her learnings as vice-captain under the leadership of Meg Lanning, praising the Australian legend's composed approach. "What I admire most about Meg is how she balances being calm yet aggressive-something that's essential for a leader. Last year, during a tense match, I asked her if she was nervous. Her response has stayed with me. She said, 'As a captain, my job is to set the tone and stay composed because I know the team looks up to me. If I'm calm, the team is calm.' That really made sense to me."

With the WPL 2025 final scheduled for March 15 in Mumbai, Delhi Capitals are focused on making history and securing their first-ever title. They will face the winner of the eliminator clash between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Giants.
