Wriddhiman Saha announced his official homecoming to Bengal cricket for the upcoming domestic season on Monday (August 12).
The Indian wicketkeeper-batter left to play for Tripura and switched his domestic allegiance following a miscommunication with CAB, but has made a return to his home state.

The player, accompanied with CAB president Snehasish Ganguly, attended a press conference at the Eden Gardens and announced his comeback to Bengal cricket. He recently played in the inaugural Bengal Pro T20 league, which hinted a return, and the official confirmation was made by the player himself.
"I left two years for Tripura. But credit to Sourav Ganguly, Snehasish Ganguly, my wife and others that I may represent Bengal team if I get a chance (chuckles). I will be looking forward to contribute to my team. I am working as a player now, and if CAB gives me an opportunity in any other role, I am always free for that. I dreamt of playing for Bengal and sacrificed a few jobs. My main goal was to represent Bengal and I am very happy to return from where it all started," Wriddhiman said in the press conference.
The Bengal veteran played a key part in the inaugural season of the Bengal Pro T20 league and wants to see the continued growth of Bengal cricket through it.
"The way Bengal Pro T20 league has started, it is very encouraging. The players are getting monetary security along with a chance to play, and if they play well, they may get a chance to represent the state. It [Bengal Pro T20] was poised to happen for a long time, but finally it has started. I hope it will be a long lasting and give opportunities to players," he said.
Wriddhiman played for Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2024 and played a few decent knocks for them. With the IPL mega auction coming later this year, it is unlikely that the Titans will keep him in the retention list. But the Bengal player stresses that his sole focus is to serve Bengal cricket and play well for the team, and IPL won't be in his hindsight.
"I will only think about Mushtaq Ali after the Red Ball cricket. IPL is not my priority, if that had been my priority, I wouldn't have played Ranji Trophy in the last two years. Yes, white ball cricket will be in focus, but only after the longer format," Saha said when MyKhel asked him about any special preparation for the T20 domestic tournament.
It is to be seen how Wriddhiman, popularly known as 'Papali' in Bengal cricket, performs for his home state. His inclusion after the retirement of former India player Manoj Tiway is also extremely significant for Bengal cricket.
