South Africa made a leap in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 standings following a thumping innings and 273 runs in the second Test at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Friday (October 31).
Kagiso Rabada and Keshav Maharaj claimed five wicket hauls as South Africa bowled out Bangladesh for 159 and 143 after riding on centuries from Tony De Zorzi, Tristan Stubbs and Willem Mulder to pile on 575/6 declared in their first innings.

Opting to bat, the Proteas got off to the perfect start as De Zorzi smashed 177 before Stubbs (106) and Mulder (105*) to put on huge total on the board. Taijul Islam carried on his form from the first Test and claimed another fifer, but the rest of the bowlers failed to deliver.
Rabada also carried his wicket-taking spree from the series opener to take another five-wicket haul as South Africa enforced follow on. Mominul Haque played a lone hand for the home side, scoring 82 in the total of 159.
While Radaba went wicketless in the second innings, Maharaj claimed a fifer and was well-supported by Senuran Muthusamy (4/45) to seal the innings victory, which saw South Africa move to fourth spot in the WTC standings with 54.15 percentage of points won.
With five wins in 9 matches, South Africa moved above New Zealand in the standings and got closer to their next opponent Sri Lanka, while Bangladesh remained in eighth as the defeat saw their win percentage drop to 27.50. Here is a look at the latest WTC standings:

New Zealand can again leapfrog South Africa when they face India in the third and final Test at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, starting from Friday (November 1). The race for the WTC final spot will get heated in the coming weeks.
