Australia claimed pole position in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 standings after New Zealand defeated India in the third and final Test at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday (November 3).
New Zealand handed India their first-ever whitewash in a series of three or more Tests at home, triumphing over Rohit Sharma's side by 25 runs in the final match of the series, having won the first two Tests in Bengaluru and Pune last month.

As a result of the loss, India lost their top spot in the World Test Championship standings and dropped to second place. As the Border-Gavaskar series approaches, Australia now holds the top spot.
New Zealand, meanwhile, reclaimed the fourth spot as their percentage of points won increased to 54.55, leapfrogging South Africa, who had climbed up the WTC table with win percentage of 54.17 following the whitewash of Bangladesh earlier this week. Here is a look at the latest WTC standings:

New Zealand and South Africa are definitely in the race for a WTC final spot along with Sri Lanka, who host England, while India and Australia will look to outdo each other as the race for the WTC final spot gets heated in the coming weeks.
India, Australia, New Zealand, England, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, West Indies and South Africa will all be vying for their spots when Test action resumes from November 22, when India begin their tour of Australia for a five-match Test series.
