India remained top of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 standings despite Australia’s 3-wicket series-clinching win over New Zealand in the second Test at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch on Monday (March 11).
With 6 wins in 9 Tests in the current cycle, Rohit Sharma’s Team India, who claimed top spot after dominating England in the five-match home Test series, had moved to the summit following New Zealand’s loss to Australia in Wellington and will remain there for quite some time.

India beat England in the fifth and final Test last week at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamsala to seal the series 4-1 and cemented their position on top of the WTC standings.
Alex Carey and Mitchell Marsh shared a crucial stand before skipper Pat Cummins oversaw the visitors' chase with the former as Australia beat New Zealand 2-0 in their own backyard in a critical World Test Championship series.
Earlier, Josh Hazlewood's five-wicket haul had bundled the home side for 162 in the first innings, but the Kiwis fought back through Matt Henry's 7-wicket haul to restrict Australia's lead to 94 after a fighting 90 from Marnus Labuschagne.
New Zealand, then, rode on fifties from Kane Williamson, Tom Latham, Rachin Ravindra and Dary Mitchell to score 372 in the third innings, setting Australia a fourth innings target of 279.
The home side were on top, reducing Australia to 80 for 5, but from there Marsh (80) and Carey (98*) shared a 140-run stand to turn the tide before Cummins contributed with a 32* to see the visitors home on the fourth day of the Christchurch Test.
As a result of this win, Australia moved to second spot on World Test Championship points table. New Zealand, meanwhile, slipped to third. Here is a look at the latest WTC standings:
