New Zealand move to the summit of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 standings following a comprehensive 281-run victory over South Africa in the first Test of the two-match series on Wednesday (February 7).
After missing out on whitewashing a series against Bangladesh last year, New Zealand opened their account this year with a huge win against a second-string South Africa side at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui.

Put in to bat first, New Zealand rode on Rachin Ravindra double century and Kane Williamson century to post 511 before Matt Henry and Mitchell Santner helped bundle out South Africa for 162, taking a massive 349-run lead into the second innings.
Williamson carried on from where he left of in the first innings with another century in the second innings as New Zealand set South Africa a daunting target of 529 before bundling the visitors again for 247 on the final day of the Test.
As a result of this match, New Zealand toppled first placed Australia and second-placed India to the top of the World Test Championship points table. South Africa in third dropped down to seventh. Here is a look at the latest WTC standings:
