WTC Final 2023: Cameron Green Feels Virat Kohli Will Be A Big Threat

London, June 4: All-rounder Cameron Green believes in-form Virat Kohli is definitely going to a big threat when Australia and India lock horns in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final at the Oval in London, from Wednesday (June 7).

The star Indian batter Kohli has got back among the big runs after he broke his century drought of nearly three years in 2022 Asia Cup T20. Since adding that ton, the 34-year-old has scored hundreds in all formats, including back-to-back hundreds in IPL 2023.

While Green feels Kohli is the player that always stands up in big moments, the all-rounder himself, who is also in good touch, is keen to face the challenge in the marquee clash.

"Virat Kohli. I think he always tries to be the man to stand up in big moments," Green told ICC ahead of the WTC Final against India. "A World Test Championship is obviously a massive moment, so I look forward to that."

Green, who made his IPL debut earlier this year, played a key role in Mumbai Indians' campaign under Rohit Sharma's captaincy. He scored 452 runs, including a hundred, and claimed six wickets in 16 matches.

The all-rounder wants to carry on a trait from his MI skipper. He hopes to bring the calmness of Rohit, having spent quality time with the Indian captain in the MI dug out during IPL 2023 and explained his role for the five-time champions.

"The calmness he (Rohit) has out in the middle is so evident. He's obviously been there and done that for 10 years. To be out there with him and just talk through a situation was awesome," Green added.

"My role was trying to be aggressive and then he obviously showed ways to go about it, whether it was attacking spin, attacking pace, kind of picking your bowler in a way."

Green, who joined the Australian camp late, made his first appearance at training session on Thursday (June 1) and is now set to take on his Mumbai Indians skipper in the WTC Final.

Despite joining up with the squad late, Green feels there won't be any problem for him to switch gears from T20 format to Test cricket.

"There is nothing like Test cricket when you're kind of out in the middle," the 24-year-old added. "Obviously your nerves are running really high. I think the best players are the best ones that are able to handle that."
