WTC Final 2023, India vs Australia: Four batters who can score Most Runs in the Match

The ICC World Test Championship final for the 2021-23 cycle is set to take centre stage at the Oval from June 7.

Two top-ranked teams of the current season will be locking horns in the London stadium. India, who played the previous WTC Final in 2021, will clash against Australia who finished at the summit of the current WTC table.

Kohli Steve Smith

The teams are already in England and are set to battle for the Test Mace, more significantly an ICC trophy which India have been devoid of for a decade now. Australia won their last ICC trophy back in 2021 when they won the ICC T20 World Cup in UAE.

There will be some gigantic names in the showcase finale. Indian batting stalwarts like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli will be in action whereas Aussie superstars like David Warner, Steve Smith are also going to sweat it out at the Oval.

With the conditions and the form in mind, here are four names across both teams who can rise high and score a lot of runs in the Final.

WTC Final 2023: Four Players who can score Most Runs

Here are the players who may score the most runs in the WTC Final 2023-

Virat Kohli

India's premium batter Virat Kohli has been scoring runs for fun if late. The stalwart batter has scored plenty of runs in the IPL 2023 season, a form which continued from his excellent start to 2023.

Kohli scored 297 runs for India in the Border Gavaskar Trophy earlier this year, and is looking likely to score big again. His overall stats in WTC 2021-23 cycle don't bode well. With just 1 century in 16 Tests, Kohli has struggled in the longest format of the game, but the recent upsurge shows the player is slowly coming back to his best.

Kohli would be aiming to score big against the Aussies in the grand stage and it can prove pivotal for Rohit Sharma and his team in the match. Kohli's numbers in England are not encouraging, as he has scored only 1033 runs in 31 innings at a moderate average of 33. And the player would definitely aim to better that.

Steve Smith

Australia's batting maestro Steve Smith will hold the key for them in the WTC Final. Smith's class and ability to dominate bowlers in adverse situations will be crucial for them, especially against the in-form Indian pacers.

Smith has an excellent record both against India and in England. The Aussie has amassed 1887 Test runs in just 18 matches, at an average of 65 along with 8 centuries.

The batter has also managed some heavy runs in England. He averages 59 on English soil and so far has six hundreds in Tests to his name. His solitary hundred at the Oval came back in 2013, and it won't be surprising if he does the same ten years later in the WTC Final.

Cheteshwar Pujara

Cheteshwar Pujara spent the entire summer in England playing county cricket. The rock-solid batter has the sole experience of English conditions this season, and will be massive for the Indian team.

Pujara is coming into the match with form on his side. He scored 545 runs for Sussex in the Country Division 2 this season and a lot will be expected from his willow. Pujara scores at an average of 50+ when the opponent is Australia, and will be trying to replicate his prolificness in the WTC Final.

Marnus Labuschagne

Marnus Labuschagne is the newest batting star for Australia. The stylish batter has scored 25 50+ scores in just 64 innings of his Test career.

His numbers against India are also lofty as the 28-year-old has amassed 708 runs in 16 innings against the Indians. Labuschagne also had a decent stint in the county this season with Glamorgan, where he scored 2 centuries and 2 fifties for Glamorgan in his last 6 innings.

Labushagne will be key for the Aussies and with the form that he is in, we can expect him to score a decent amount of runs.
