WTC Final: Umesh Yadav looked highly unimpressive on Day 1 of the World Test Championship (WTC) Final 2023 against Australia on Wednesday. Playing ahead of Ravichandran Ashwin and Jaydev Unadkat, he leaked 54 runs in his first 14 overs without taking any wicket.

India had reduced Australia to 76/3 at one stage but with no pressure applied from Umesh Yadav and Shardul Thakur, the Australia batting pair of Steve Smith and Travis Head took Australia past 250 unscathed.

Warner took special liking for Umesh and hit as many as five boundaries off him. Steve Smith also hit three boundaries off the Vidarbha pacer. Not only did Umesh get hit for boundaries frequently, his line and length was also very haywire.
