India vs Australia, WTC Final 2023: Mike Hussey names two key batters for India

India will be clashing against Australia in the WTC Final 2023 which starts at the Oval from June 7. The two top teams of the 2021-23 WTC cycle will be locking horns for the Test mace and the ultimate glory.

India will be aiming to win the one-off Test and end their 10-year wait for an ICC trophy. The last time the Indian team won an ICC trophy was back in 2013, when they won the Champions Trophy in England under the captaincy of MS Dhoni.

And as they prepare to end the drought, former Australia batter Mike Hussey says two players will be pivotal for them. The former CSK player says Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will be the two players key for the Indian team.

"It's hard to see past Virat Kohli. He (Kohli) is obviously coming back into some great form again in all forms of the game really, so both he and Rohit Sharma with the bat are going to be important for India," Hussey said to ICC.

The India captain Rohit Sharma has been struggling of late and will have to resurrect his form ahead of the WTC Final. Virat Kohli, on the other hand, has revived his bad run and has been in stellar touch this year.

Kohli had a decent limited-overs outing for India and then continued his fine run against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He has continued that in the IPL 2023 as well, scoring 639 runs for RCB.

Like India, Hussey believes Australia will be relying on their elite bowling attack as it promises to be a battle between India's batting and Australia's pace attack.

"It is going to be played in England, so English conditions will be different to the recent series in India, so I think the fast bowlers are going to be important. Pat Cummins (is key for Australia) and Josh Hazlewood might be fit again which would be nice for Australia," the former batter added.

Hussey also reckons Steve Smith's excellent form in England will be a massive factor for Australia and his hunger for runs will be an important component in the match.
