WTC Final 2023: Mohammed Siraj slammed for throwing ball at Steve Smith - 'Cheap behaviour, ban him'

WTC Final 2023: India pacer Mohammed Siraj was criticised for his attitude on Day 2 of the World Test Championship 2023 at The Oval in London.

Just after equalling Joe Root's tally of 31st Test hundred back smashing back-to-back two boundaries, Smith pulled out just before Siraj could complete his fourth delivery in the opening over of Day 2. Smith, who is now third most Test hundreds for Australia, straightaway pointed towards the spider cam.

However, a furious Siraj threw the ball towards the wicket and expressed his frustration in words as well. All the while, Smith patiently kept on explaining to him that the movement of the spider cam in front of his eyesight disrupted his concentration.

The entire episode did not go well with the fans who slammed Siraj for his uncalled 'attitude' towards Smith. In recent times the 29-year-old has been often pointed out by fans for his habit of picking up fights with opposition players.

In the IPL 2023, fans were disappointed after his on-field altercation with Lucknow Super Giants' (LSG) Naveen-ul-Haq and Delhi Capitals' (DC) Phil Salt. However, his latest act against a batter of Smith's stature has not gone well with many.

Smith scored a fifty in 2015 World Cup quarter-final before slamming a hundred in the semi-final and a fifty in the final. He also scored a hundred in the semi-final of the 2019 World Cup. Here is how fans have reacted.

Siraj later dismissed Travis Head who scored a 106-ball hundred on Wednesday. The breakthrough helped India pick two more wickets. The Indian bowling attack was on the receiving end on Day 1 as they ended up giving 327 runs for just three wickets.
