Australia's first World Test Championship Final appearance promises a lot. They are set to play against India in the WTC Final 2023 which starts from Wednesday (June 7) at the Oval in London.
It has been mostly a stellar WTC cycle for Australia finishing at the summit of the WTC table. They won 11 out of 19 matches with a PCT (Points Percentage) of 66.67, the best in this cycle by a mile.

As they lock horns against their immediate deputy India, the Aussies are banking a lot on ther batting display. They played against Indian earlier this year in a four-match Test series, and lost the Border Gavaskar Trophy 1-2 despite a decent performance.
It has been mostly a decent outing for Australia in the last twelve months. They won the home series against South Africa and West Indies, while managing a draw in their tour to Sri Lanka last July.
A decent batting performance will be crucial for Australia in the WTC Final and they have some serious names in the squad. David Warner's vast experience along with Steve Smith's form and record in England will be massive, while the likes of Marnus Labuschagne and Travis Head are also set to play a major part.
But ahead of this final, there will be four Australian batters who will have to play the key part - namely Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Travis Head and Usman Khawaja.
Steve Smith had a decent outing in the BGT earlier and he has also been playing well in county cricket ahead of the WTC Final. The Aussie star has scored 249 runs at an average of 41 this year. And his form is England is quite sublime as well. Smith has scored at an average of 59 so far in 16 Tests in England, along with 6 centuries and 7 fifties.

Marnus Labuschagne has emerged as one of Australia's biggest budding stars and the 28-year-old is in elite form. He scored 2 centuries and 2 fifties in his last four county matches while representing Glamorgan.
The stylish batter has managed 323 runs in 5 Tests in this calendar year and would be hoping to continue his rich vein of form. In England, Labuschagne has a decent record, an average of 50 and four fifties in just 7 Test innings.
Travis Head's batting was one of the biggest positives for Australia in the BGT. The southpaw's aggressive approach and fearless shot-making makes him one of the most dangerous batters. He is also a decent player of spin which further compounds India's mark against him.
The batter scored 235 runs in the BGT and has scored at an average of 50 this year, and an impressive strike rate of 76. He promises to be an exciting player and would definitely be aiming to make his mark at a grand stage like WTC Final.
Usman Khawaja has been the best Australian batter this year. His form in the BGT was excellent as the opener scored 333 runs and was the best visitors batter in challenging Indian conditions.
Khawaja also scored a career-best 195 against South Africa to start his year and would be aiming to continue his merry run in the WTC Final. The openers will play a crucial role and Australia would dearly want a positive start to their inning against a quality Indian bowling attack.
