India have opted for Ishan Kishan as a replacement for the injured KL Rahul for the upcoming World Test Championship Final.
The announcement was made on Monday that Kishan will be taking the flight to London come June to play Australia in the WTC Final.
KL Rahul suffered a thigh injury in the ongoing IPL 2023 and has been forced to withdraw from the squad. He is set to undergo surgery and subsequent rehab, which means the wicketkeeper-batter won't be part of the final which starts against Australia at the Oval on June 7.
Apart from Rahul, Jaydev Unadkat and Umesh Yadav are also carrying niggles and under the scanner, but they maintain their name in the squad for now.
Unadkat sustained a left shoulder injury and he has already been ruled out for the remainder of the IPL 2023. The left-arm pacer is currently at NCA in Bengaluru and his involvement will be decided later, a release from BCCI confirmed.
KKR pacer Umesh Yadav is also being monitored for his minor hamstring problem. The India pacer is currently under the care of the KKR Medical team and his progress is being monitored by BCCI.
BCCI has also announced Ruturaj Gaikwad, Mukesh Kumar and Surya Kumar Yadav as the standby players for the WTC final.
