WTC Final 2025: There were big changes at the top of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 standings after Australia defeated India in the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide on Sunday (December 8).
Pat Cummins-led Australia bounced back from the Perth Test loss to beat Rohit Sharma's Team India by 10 wickets in the pink ball Test to draw level in the five-match series, which has a huge baring on the World Test Championship Final set to be held next year in Lord's.

After being bowled out for 175 in their second innings, India set a target of 19 for Australia, and the hosts completed the chase in 3.2 overs, finishing the Adelaide Test inside three days, in just under seven sessions to be precise.
With this defeat, India dropped down to third position in the WTC standings. Rohit has now lost four successive matches as captain, leaving the team with a win percentage of 57.29 per cent following 9 wins, a draw and 6 defeats in 16 matches.
Australia, on the other hand, jumped from third to first spot in the World Test Championship standings with a point percentage of 60.71 per cent following nine wins, one draw and four defeats in 14 matches.
The WTC Final chasing duo will be in action in three more Tests with the next match scheduled to take place in Brisbane. Here is a look at the latest WTC standings followed by the remaining matches in WTC 2023-25:

Earlier, England leapfrogged New Zealand to take the fifth position in the WTC standings. Stokes' side now have a win percentage of 45.24 per cent following 11 wins, a draw and 9 defeats in 21 matches.
New Zealand, on the other hand, slipped to the sixth spot in the World Test Championship standings with a point percentage of 44.23 per cent following six wins and seven defeats in 13 matches.
Both England and New Zealand were penalised for slow over-rate in the first Test. England and New Zealand are out of contention in the WTC final race, but the two sides will still look to finish their cycle on a positive note when they clash next week.
