WTC Updated Standings: Bangladesh Climb To 6th Position After 104-Run Win Over Pakistan; Australia Hold Top Spot, India 5th
Bangladesh's win in the first test against Pakistan during the ongoing two-match test series has given a massive boost to the Tigers in the existing WTC 2025-27 standings. The Najmul Hossain Shanto-led side climbed to the sixth spot on the table. Meanwhile, the Shaheens slipped to the seventh position.
Coming to the match, Bangladesh won by a thumping 104-run margin, powered by skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto, who produced a scintillating century in the first innings and followed it up with a brilliant 87 in the second. Riding on strong batting performances on a friendly surface at Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka, the hosts set a challenging target of 267 for the Pakistan national cricket team. The tourists, however, were bowled out for just 163 on the final day, sealing a historic victory for the Bangladesh national cricket team.

This triumph also marked Bangladesh's first win in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship cycle, following an opening tour in which they suffered a defeat and played out a draw against Sri Lanka.
WTC Updated Standings: Who Is At The Top?
At the top of the standings, the Australia national cricket team continues to hold the No. 1 spot, building on a dominant run that included a strong The Ashes campaign against the England national cricket team and a 3-0 whitewash of the West Indies cricket team.
New Zealand national cricket team sits close behind in second place with a points percentage of 77.78, following a 2-0 series victory over the West Indies. Meanwhile, reigning champions South Africa national cricket team occupy third position, having won three of their four matches during their late-2025 tours of Pakistan national cricket team and India national cricket team.
India is currently placed fifth in the standings. Their campaign began with a 2-2 draw against England, followed by a dominant home clean sweep over the West Indies cricket team.
However, their momentum dipped sharply thereafter, as India suffered five consecutive defeats at home against New Zealand and South Africa, leaving their campaign in a difficult position. Their next assignment in the ICC World Test Championship cycle will be a home series against Australia in the 2027 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
